Giddy As A Schoolgirl

Yes, Giddy.

After much stress and many much hours pulling wire, framing walls etc.

We did it.

Ok, not did it done, but did it getting there.

We got all our plumbing, heating and electrical (a billion thanks to the Yoda of electricity Alan for helping me through the dizzying process, even though he was packing up all his stuff before a cross-counrty move to IOWA for med school) DONE!

Drywall was started one morning and by that afternoon was 75% hung. After only a couple hours the next morning they were done and ready to tape and mud. The whole house is moving along pretty well. The exterior is almost done and all the siding has been painted. (thank you Crystal for working extra hard, even when I'm not there cracking the whip).

The only painting left is a bit of touch up and painting the trim around the windows and doors white. The stucco will go where all that black paper is and then POOF!

The home that sat for two years is transformed. We'll be ready for finish work and wood floors to go in by the middle of next week and hopefully completed a week and a half after that.

Not Giddy-worthy you say? well I hope you noticed that pine tree in front of the garage. It's one of two cut down this week by yours truly.

It's not that I don't like trees, I just love a good photo opp.

with the rest of life going so well and our house moving AHEAD of schedule, (yes I said AHEAD)

I think i'm entitled to a bit of Giddy-ness.

Giddy? Like a Schoolgirl? Are you squealing and jumping up and down while hugging a big group of other schoolgirls too? Actually. I'm giddy as a schoolgirl right along with you. Your home looks rockin' awesome. I'm tempted, yea sorely tempted, to drive down there just to see it! (12 hours to visit a house under construction might make my Utah extended family feel like chopped liver, sorry!) I'll take pictures of our basement tomorrow so you can see the progress we've made. Ben starts nights in a week which will end all forward progress, but we'll get bids for mud/tape/texture going tomorrow. You'll probably beat us, but it's all so fun when you take a step back from the drywall grind (which, by the way, is HECKA HEAVY re: my latest post at betterthanhousework.blogspot.com). Good luck, guys!

Oh my goodness! Your house looks amazing! I soooo can't wait to see it this summer! (Unlike Paula, I can wait). Definitely. But can I just say HUGE Props on the curb appeal? Nicely done folks! I'm especially impressed that you're ahead of schedule! That is amazing! I'm so happy for/proud of you! It's all falling into place! :) Congrats!

Wait, wait, wait! Did Stephen just blog? I'm confused. Was it the paint fumes? The drywall mud? The newly homeless birdies pecking at your head? Whoa! This is pretty big.

It is looking pretty darn good! I'm glad you guys put some pics up so I can actually see what you're talking about. Can't wait to see Steve's hardwood floors and Crystal's paint job. Is it exciting to "do it yourself"?

It's so nice knowing that we are doing it ourselves! It is all coming together and I can't wait to move in and make it home!

It's....it's....it's so HUGE!!

(That was to be said in the voice of Stephen's former comp.)

It will be fun to see how it all turns out. How many bedrooms is it?? How many garages? Will Stephen have a shed or some other workspace?

Right now there are 3 bedrooms, with 3 more in the unfinished basement. There is also a loft upstairs that we could turn into a bedroom if we need another bedroom before we are ready to finish the basement. It is 2 car garage, but it is deep so Steve will have pleanty of room for all of his tools and toys!
